Here's a look at what a boat gets you access to that the highway doesn't. ## Why so much of Howe Sound is boat-only Howe Sound is a fjord — steep, glacially carved terrain drops straight into deep water along much of its length, with the highway (the Sea to Sky) tracing only one side. Much of it's most pristine locations are inaccessible for most, and can only be reached by boat. ## What you'd see that you can't from the highway - **Waterfalls and shoreline features** that face the water rather than the road, invisible from any pullout on Highway 99. - **Small islets and rock outcrops** used as haul-out spots by seals and other wildlife. Pam rocks is known for it's local seal colony, bird breeding site (bird sanctuary), and world-famous diving! - **Quiet coves** tucked behind headlands that block any view or access from land. ## Why this matters if you're already familiar with Squamish A lot of our guests have driven the Sea to Sky highway before, hiked the Chief, maybe done the Sea to Sky Gondola — and still haven't seen this side of Howe Sound, because it's simply not visible from land. A boat tour isn't competing with those experiences; it's showing you the part of the area that's structurally off-limits without one. ## Pairing it with the rest of your trip If you're visiting for a longer Sea to Sky trip, a jet boat tour works well alongside Whistler, the Sea to Sky Gondola, Shannon Falls, and Squamish's climbing/hiking scene.
